USB Isolator for VPFlowScope M

USB Isolator for connection to VPStudio

The VPFlowScope M can be connected to a computer and the VPStudio 4 software for adjusting settings or viewing real-time data.
This connection can be made using either a JB5 kit or a USB Mini-B cable. However, when using a USB Mini-B cable, the power supplied is insufficient for the flow sensor, this limits the real-time data to pressure and temperature readings. The user can still adjust the settings.

Warning
When using the VPFlowScope M with a mini USB cable for real-time data monitoring while the power supply is connected to the M12 connector, it is recommended to use a USB isolator to protect both your computer’s USB port and the transmitter’s USB port.

Use your laptop on battery mode and avoid connecting both the USB cable and 24V power supply simultaneously. Alternatively, use a USB isolator or a JB5 kit.

Benefits of a USB Isolator

  1. Electrical Safety
A USB isolator safeguards your flowmeter and computer from electrical faults and surges. It isolates both the USB connection and power line, preventing high voltages or surges from traveling through the USB connection.

  1. Preventing Ground Loops
Ground loops can cause interference or potential differences when multiple grounding points are involved. A USB isolator breaks this loop, ensuring that each device maintains its own ground reference. This reduces noise and maintains signal integrity.

  1. Protecting Sensitive Equipment
The VPFlowScope M is sensitive to high electrical disturbances. A USB isolator helps protect it from potential damage caused by electrical issues or power supply spikes.
